The Village Paddington

The Village recently opened a few minutes walk away from Paddington station offering a large selection of Lebanese dishes, all at an affordable price, which is pretty impressive given the location.

The restaurant has a really nice interior – immediately got flashbacks of the hotels in Cappadocia once I walked in, because of the Arch themes and brick walls inside. The decor is great too, with handing pots and pans from the roof at the entrance, and the stunning carpet and tiles on the floor.

The restaurant also has a private cabin room, I didn’t get to check it out but I’ve seen pictures on their Instagram, and it’d definitely make for a great location for a special occasion between 2/3 people.

Starters

For starters we tried a selection of their hot and cold Appetisers, all priced from £4-6. The dishes we tried included their Hummus, Cheese Rolls, Fried Kibbeh, Moutabal, Warak Enab and their Salad.

The Hummus was great. Too often restaurants serve a mediocre Hummus, which is totally unacceptable in my eyes because now you can even walk into Tesco/Sainsbury’s and pick up good Hummus, so it’s disappointing when restaurants don’t get it right. The Village’s Hummus was great, served with hot bread from their Oven.

My personal favourite was the Cheese Rolls. Usually these sort of dishes make me feel a little sick after a few bites, but these were freshly cooked and weren’t dripping of Oil, so tasted great!

Mains

For mains we only had our eyes on one thing – and that was the Manakish. Manakish is “a popular Levantine food consisting of dough topped with thyme, cheese, or ground meat.” (stolen directly from Wikipedia ofc). Essentially it’s a very thin pizza, which can be topped with a variety of different ingredients.

We went for their Manakish Board (for £9) which comes with a choice of 4 toppings – we opted for Thyme, Cheese, Tomato & Onion, and Lahme Baajin (minced meat).

Drinks

Having ordered so much food, we had to get some fresh juice to accompany our meal – went for the Fresh Orange juice and it went down an absolute treat. Would definitely recommend if you’re visiting!

Conclusion

Would definitely recommend a visit to The Village as we enjoyed our meal here. We were invited to review, but I’d return given how good value for money the food is! Check out the menu here:
