Jantar BBQ, Tooting London

Mexican Barbeque-style restaurant have quickly become very popular (you know – the ones where they continually bring out skewers of meat to your table until you can’t breathe anymore), and Jantar is one of them!

Chef cooking the meat before it’s brought to your table.

Located on Tooting high street, next door to Nandos. They have a few options on the menu – the one we went for was the £16 per person menu for the full buffet, which included all the meat and the sides (lasagne, chips, mixed veg, etc).

Definitely a reasonable price for the quantity of meat and sides that you get.

Sadly, I wasn’t overly keen on most of the meat! Some of the chicken dishes were okay and tasted quite good, but the others (mainly the steaks) lacked in flavour. The sides however were great, and towards the end I was filling myself with them! So if you really want to try out the restaurant for the experience, then be rest assured that you can still leave with a full stomach!

The lasagne – one of the side options
My plate-ful of sides, as I wasn’t too keen on the meat.

For me, the lack of bold taste of the meat let me down, and is the reason why I won’t be back – for that price, when you can go next door to Nandos and get a whole chicken, it’s hard to return.

Btw – they also offer the cooked pineapple which we tried and enjoyed – but this is at an extra cost of £1.50 (in my opinion, this should be offered as part of the meal price).
