Ramadan Cookbook 2020 Update

As many of you may remember, last year I put together a “Ramadan Cookbook” which was a collation of recipes from myself, my family and some of my favourite bloggers and restaurants!

Lots and lots of you donated so I thought it would be great, 1 year on, to show you what we were able to achieve with the money you donated!

In total we had 2,127 donors and together we managed to raise a staggering £30,746.73, split between our three campaigns: “Build a Mosque”, “Feed the Fasting” and “Orphan Sponsorship”.

A little update regarding the 2021 Ramadan Cookbook – it will be available for you to get your hands on on the first day of Ramadan 2021, in sha Allah!

Build a Mosque

The Prophet PBUH said: “Whoever builds a mosque for the sake of Allah, Allah will build for him a house like it in Paradise.” [Bukhari and Muslim]

We raised £10,079.31 which went towards building a mosque by the name of “Masjid Ishaque” in the Sindh region of Pakistan, in a small village called Chhito Junejo in the Badin District.

Some facts about the mosque:

  • Capacity: 250 people
  • Size: 24×30 feet
  • Wudu and Toilet facilities within the complex
  • PA system installed

You can click here to download the full report from Muslim Hands on the mosque project.

Thank you to all at Muslim Hands for their fantastic work in getting the mosque built and doing a fantastic job of it! If you would like to organise a project like this of your own, you can reach out to imran.ahmed@muslimhands.org.uk to discuss further.

Feed the Fasting

The Prophet PBUH said: “Whoever gives food for a fasting person to break his fast, he will have a reward like theirs, without that detracting from their reward in the slightest.” [Ibn Majah]

We raised £15,119.82 which went towards providing 60,000+ much needed meals to the less fortunate to break their fast with during Ramadan.

Orphan Sponsorship

The Prophet PBUH said: “I and the one who looks after an orphan will be like this in Paradise,” showing his middle and index fingers and separating them. [Bukhari]

We raised £5,529.60 which went towards sponsoring 13 orphans for a year. This money covered costs including warm clothing, regular food, a roof over their head, support to return back to school and proper health care (including routine check-ups and immunisations).

Thank you to Human Appeal who were our partners in providing the Feed the Fasting and Sponsor an Orphan campaigns.

Thank you to everyone who donated or contributed towards the cookbook, we pray that this is a deed heavy on your scales on the Day of Judgement.
