Fatburger, Camden

One analogy i’ve made of Halal bloggers is that we post a hell of a lot of burger places. Now I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that – I’m definitely guilty of this too, but I think i’d put this down to the fact that Halal Foodies love a good burger! They’re served quick, usually not too expensive – and if you’re at the right restaurant, then they taste great too!

Fatburger has been around for quite a while now, with stores all around the world (including Tokyo, Beijing and various states in the US). I read a variety of reviews online of people with mixed opinions which stalled me from visiting, but since I was in the area (and admittedly Burger UK was full when we tried to walk into there), I thought let’s give Fatburger a try.

I went for their signature Fatburger, which you can customise to your liking – I got rid of the mustard and pickle, and added Egg (£1 extra) and cheese (£1 extra). I must say, I thought an extra pound for each topping was quite cheeky and unnecessary, especially for just a slice of cheese. The free toppings that come with a Fatburger are Lettuce, Tomato, Mayo, Mustard, Relish, Onions and Pickles.

I went for the single burger which is priced at £6.25, or £10 as a meal which includes fries and a refillable drink. Although for some strange reason they over-charged me for my meal (didn’t reduce the price to £10, instead charged me individually for my burger, fries & drink) – annoyingly, I only noticed this when I looked at the picture of the bill that I put onto my Instagram story.

I was really impressed with the burger, by no means was it the best burger in London, but it was definitely good value for money. I thought the refillable drink was a nice touch, and the fries were decent too.

I also gave the boneless wings a try – unfortunately I wasn’t such a fan. I thought the concept was smart, no doubt eating wings from the bone adds to the taste, but this is a great alternative which saves your hands from getting messy, and I think more restaurants should offer it as an option.

I’m not going to put down Fatburger on this experience where I didn’t enjoy the boneless wings, as they have many flavours to choose from, and I may have just picked one I didn’t like. However, I think this may also be part of the problem. With so many flavours to choose from (around 14/15) it’s very hard to know which one to go for – so i’d recommend asking to try some of their marinate before ordering if you’re unsure which flavour to go for.

Would I return? put simply – yes. I think the restaurant offers some great food, but I’m just a little uncertain about the value for money. In total, I spent around £20 for what you see in the picture above, and for that money you could get a lot more food elsewhere, and I’d definitely classify Fatburger as a fast-food joint.

A little pricey, but good burgers!
