Shuro Shirin

Persian food has recently become one of my favourite cuisines. Being from a Pakistani background, naturally I like food smothered with sauces and am not a fan of dry food – but when it comes to Persian food, as long as there’s some garlic sauce to hand then I’m a huge fan!

Recently visited Shuro Shirin in Fulham which offers ‘Grab & Go’ style Persian food. NOT to be confused with fast food, because although it’s fast service, the food is meals are intended to give you an authentic taste of Perisan food inside a quick grab-and-go box that you can take back to your desk and eat. So perfect for lunch!

They’ve also recently opened a new store a 2-min walk away from Monument station for those who work in the City area. Great because when I worked in the Bank/Moorgate area I remember struggling to find good Halal food that didn’t cost me an arm and a leg.

The menu at Shuro Shirin is quite concise, which those of you who read a lot of my blogs will know that I like – when I see too much choice I get freaked out because I have serious FOMO (fear of missing out) because I always worry that I didn’t pick the best thing on the menu!

They do a selection of Hot Pots, Wraps and Salads which I’d say are just bigger than a standard lunch – so you’ll probably have a few bites left to snack on for the rest of the day.

From the Hot boxes I tried the Tangy Tomato Kabob (Baked minced lamb with a tangy tomato sauce, served with saffron rice) for £6.49 which was possibly my favourite dish that I tried. I’m usually one to complain about food being dry, so Tomato sauce worked great with the Kebab and meant I didn’t need any other sauces.

I also tried the Saffron Chicken Salad Bowl, which was really well presented – I didn’t want to eat it and ruin how pretty it looked but I had to and it was great! Took home for the family and they all loved it too. Served with Lettuce, Humous, Couscous, Chickpeas, Pickled Red Cabbage, Grated Carrots, Cucumber & Tomato – so perfect for those of you trying to watch the inches on your waistline!

They also have a large stock of items in their fridge which you can grab and go such as boxed salad meals and sandwiches, and a variety of fresh juices too. I really liked the juices that I tried, but personally I’m not a big fan of Carrot juice so this wasn’t really for me – but I know some of you (crazy people) love it!

Lastly they have a huge selection of Persian treats, from Pistachio Baklava (which was my personal fav – and I had to take some home!) to Puff Pastries.

All in all, a great spot to grab a quick box of tasty Persian food – and that too at an affordable price! Most of the boxes cost between £5-7, which I’m sure those who work in the city will agree is very reasonable.

The Fulham store also has a stunning downstairs seating area with a flower-wall and a water fountain, so ideal if you don’t want to be taking food back to your desk/home.
