Churros Recipe

The only time I really get to have Churros is when I make my annual trip to Winter Wonderland, and I think that’s probably the case for most people! But making Churros is actually a LOT easier than you probably thought, plus – I bet you already have all the ingredients in your cupboard already!

Ingredients:

For the Churros you’ll need:

– 250ml Water
– 50grams Unsalted Butter
– 1/4 Tsp Salt
– 1/2 Tsp Vanilla Extract
– 125grams Plain Flour
– 1 & 1/2 Tbsp Sugar
– 1 Egg

For the Cinnamon Sugar Mix:

– 50g Sugar
– 1 Tsp Ground Cinnamon

For the Chocolate Dip:

– Melt 2 Tbsp of your fav Chocolate Spread

Recipe:
1. Boil cold water in a pan at medium heat
2. Add in the unsalted butter, salt and vanilla essence and mix until the butter has fully disolved
3. Add in the plain flour and sugar and mix until mixture is clumped together
4. Turn off the heat and leave the mixture to cool for 2-3 minutes
5. Add in the egg and mix
6. Spoon the mixture into a piping bag
7. Pipe the mixture onto a tray lined with baking paper, the Churros can be piped to your desired length
8. In a separate bowl, mix together the sugar and cinnamon to create the sugar coating of the Churros
9. Heat oil in a pan to 180°C (if you are unable to measure the temperature of your oil then put it to low-medium heat)
10. Fry the Churros in the oil until they are golden brown (Tip: place one of the Churros as a test into the oil to ensure that the oil isn’t too hot – it should take around 3-4 minutes for it to turn golden brown)
11. Remove the Churros from the oil and place onto a plate lined with kitchen paper to get rid of any excess oil
12. Coat the Churros inside the cinnamon sugar mix
13. Melt 2 Tbsps of your favourite Chocolate spread in the microwave
14. Enjoy!

Tips:
– These are best served hot, so get them straight into a plate and served!
– If you don’t have a piping bag – just double up a sandwich bag, snip off the end and you’re in business! You can even make your own make-shift nozzle with aluminium foil, that’s what we did!
